At Alba Manufacturing, we believe that rock-solid solutions start with strong collaboration. That’s why we work closely with our Alba Partner Network—an elite group of OEMs, distributors, and integrators committed to delivering top-tier material handling systems. Together, we combine high-level product design, engineering expertise, and dedicated technical support to serve our customers with excellence.
Recently, one of our partners was presented with a challenge by a high-volume end user. The user needed to boost system throughput while making only minimal changes to their current layout in order to meet rising production demands. It was a common scenario, but one that required thoughtful execution.
The answer came through one of Alba’s standard product offerings. And when we say “standard,” we mean more than just off-the-shelf. Our standard products represent efficient, affordable, and ready-to-ship solutions that maintain the integrity and reliability customers expect. In this instance, the partner recommended the integration of our True Tapered Chain Driven Live Roller (CDLR) Curves. These curves offered a simple yet highly effective solution by replacing slower, more cumbersome turntables or transfers.
By implementing True Tapered CDLR Curves, the system achieved smooth, uninterrupted pallet flow, eliminating delays caused by rotational movement or inconsistent flow-through. For operations dealing with high volumes, this seemingly small improvement had a significant impact on efficiency and overall system performance.
Understanding pallet construction and how pallets interact with conveyor systems is critical to successful implementation. Orientation plays a key role. Without true tapered curves, roller centers on the inside of a curve are tight but can expand significantly on the outside—sometimes as much as six inches. This uneven spacing can create instability and compromise system capacity, especially when pallet bottom boards are not kept perpendicular to the rollers.
Alba’s True Tapered Roller Curves are designed to resolve these issues. They ensure that each pallet remains on the same centerline from the curve’s entry point to its exit. As a result, the pallet maintains proper orientation throughout its journey, which directly contributes to system stability and increased throughput.
