Automotive Rack Lift and Rotate System

Manufacturing and robotic automation started as early as 1961. To date, typical robot applications include welding, painting, assembly, pick and place, packaging and labeling, palletizing, product inspection, and testing. Recently, an Alba Partner installed a large Alba conveyor system for a major automotive supplier to convey racks which were 49" by 62" with a picture-frame, tubular-bottom, weighing 120 lbs. into a robotic cell.

Our Partner needed assistance in solving a problem. To better assist the robot in the palletizing process, the racks needed to be rotated 180 degrees. The solution: Alba’s lift and rotate device. The lift and rotate, also known as an “iron cross,” was installed in a chain driven live roller (CDLR) section, model 251140-6, and replaced two (2) 6’-0” existing sections of CDLR within the same line.
